OHS Risk Management – Safety First – Safety Basics

afety is everyone’s responsibility. This video is going to look at identifying and reducing risks in the workplace.

Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation requires that all foreseeable hazards are identified and the risks arising from these hazards are eliminated or controlled.

Risk management is a legal requirement for all businesses regardless of their size and it involves asking the following questions:

• what hazards exist in the workplace?
• how serious are the hazards?
• what can be done to control these hazards?

Risk management is a four-step process to identify hazards in the workplace:

1. Hazard identification
2. Risk assessment
3. Risk control
4. Review

As an apprentice always check with your supervisor or OHS representative before doing any work you are not familiar with!!
