Sport

At Lambton Public School we recognise that sport is an integral part of the physical and social development of children. Therefore, we offer a wide range of sports and activities that allow students to develop their gross motor skills in a supportive environment with an emphasis on having fun. Activities occur during PE lessons either in stage or class groups and during school sport.

We also have a proud tradition of fielding competitive teams in a wide range of sporting activities.

The school and community are very supportive of all children who possess the ability and desire to further their sporting achievements.  Students who demonstrate considerable talent in any team sport are encouraged to attend zone team trials.  Similarly students who are successful in qualifying for Zone in swimming, athletics and cross country are encouraged and their achievements shared with the school community.

Sport continues to have a strong focus within our school.  Some recent achievements include:

  • 11 students represented the Hunter Region in various sports at a state carnival
  • 6 PSSA knockout teams, and while all performed well, one team (girls touch football) came 5th in NSW
  • The junior boys soccer team won the local PSSA interschool competition
  • 9 children made the regional swimming carnival, 3 went onto the state carnival
  • 11 children made the regional athletics carnival, 1 went onto the state carnival
  • 7 children made the regional cross country carnival, 2 went onto the state carnival
